Sheltering Hearts Fundraising Banquet Raises Vital Support for Christian Shelter

The Sheltering Hearts Fundraising Banquet, held on Saturday, April 13, 2024, at Dove Pointe, emerged as a resounding success, rallying approximately 200 compassionate souls in support of the Christian Shelter. This heartwarming event not only raised approximately $80,000 but also showcased the unwavering commitment of the community towards addressing homelessness with compassion and solidarity.

Distinguished community leaders graced the occasion, underscoring the significance of collective action in combating homelessness.

The evening was adorned with insightful addresses and inspiring performances. Dr. William Warren, the esteemed Pastor of Allen Memorial Baptist Church, captivated the audience with his poignant words, stirring hearts and reaffirming the importance of compassion and empathy in our communities. Serving as the emcee was Mr. Marty Neat, former President and CEO of First Shore Federal Bank, whose charismatic presence added a touch of elegance to the proceedings. Mayor Randy Taylor’s warm welcoming remarks resonated with attendees.

The melodious tunes from the GMO Praise and Worship Team filled the room with harmony, creating an atmosphere of unity and hope. A particularly poignant moment was the testimony shared by a former resident of the Christian Shelter, shedding light on the transformative impact of support and kindness.

The event’s highlight, the silent auction, was a testament to the generosity of local businesses, with proceeds contributing significantly to the Shelter’s mission of providing sanctuary and support to those in need. Additionally, the award presentations served as a poignant reminder of the invaluable contributions made by individuals and organizations dedicated to making a difference in the lives of the homeless.

The success of the Sheltering Hearts Fundraising Banquet stands as a testament to the power of community solidarity in addressing homelessness. Through collective action and unwavering compassion, the Christian Shelter and its supporters have reaffirmed their commitment to building a more inclusive and empathetic society.

Anthony Dickerson released his first book in May and has written several prayers through the power of the Holy Spirit, that will terminate the assignment of the enemy and encourage the heart of the believer. In May his book made the Best Seller’s list in Prayer on Amazon. On June 29, our executive director hosted a free book signing for all the guests at the Christian Shelter. All the guests were given a free autographed copy of his book. Many of the guests use his book as a personal devotional tool while here at the shelter. Starting in August you can purchase an autographed copy of the book by contacting the Christian Shelter at 410-749-5673. All the proceeds will go towards the support of the Christian Shelter. As we work our way through the summer months at the Christian Shelter, funds continue to be very tight as volunteers and donations have dropped off significantly so any help you can offer by purchasing a book is greatly appreciated!
