In the month of September, 2018, Christian Shelter had the highest number of children ever staying in the Shelter (46), and the highest percent occupancy of beds and rooms in the Shelter (92%) – that is all of the rooms in the Shelter, and most of the beds in those rooms were occupied.
A group of 8 students from Rosemont College in Pennsylvania came to Christian Shelter on a two day mission project. The young students helped lay floor tiles and paint walls in the upstairs apartment then joined us for lunch. The next day they came back and served dinner to our Shelter guests. Their abundant joy and enthusiasm was a blessing to staff and guests alike.
In June, Salisbury Mayor Jake Day paid a visit to Christian Shelter. Shelter Board and staff members had a chance to sit down with Mayor Day to explore the possible use of a piece of city-owned land directly behind our building for a children’s playground. Further exploration is needed, so please pray that God will make a way. Meanwhile, the Mayor paused to pose for a picture with the Shelter’s new Prep Cook, Brother Anthony Johnson.
